Introduction The Review of Australian higher education (Bradley, 2008) argued for the linking of the federal government's international education and immigration policies to target international student graduates to build the nation's skilled workforce. Many of these potential international student-migrants will be Chinese, because 'over 80 per cent of international students in Australian higher education are from Asia, including 21 per cent from mainland China' (Bradley, 2008, p. 92). Given 'the growing global importance of China,' it is therefore 'essential for Australian [higher education] institutions to maintain high standards and excellent student support services to maintain Chinese student numbers' (Bradley, 2008, p. 107). Specifically, the Bradley review argued that for Australian students 'the internationalization of their education [means] gaining access to new knowledge through exposure to the diverse viewpoints of international students' (2008, p. 104). For Australian educators who know little of China's intellectual projects, access to its concepts and propositions for the benefit of local students is likely to be a challenge. How then, might we use our ignorance to access knowledge from the diversity of international students from China?
